His chief appearance is in the ballad Robin Hood and the Tanner of Blyth in which Robin invites him to join the Merry Men.
Joining the Merry Men []
Robin came across Little John's cousin and without having met him before accused him of poaching in the greenwood. This led to the two of them fighting and Arthur was able to defeat Bold Robin. Following his defeat Robin invited Arthur to join his band of outlaws the Merry Men.
Later Life[]
Pardoned by King Richard alongside the rest of the Merry Men after the King's return.
